Olivia Munn Disagreed With a Male Director, Says He Retaliated by Telling a Movie Studio She’s ‘Combative’ on Set: ‘He Wanted to Ruin My Chances of Getting’ Acting Roles

On Olivia Munn was recently a guest on Dax Shepherd's podcast Armchair Expert, she revealed a shocking experience to the audience—according to "The Daily Beast reported that a director who worked with her on the HBO series The Newsroom attempted to "destroy" her career. The unnamed director spread negative comments about her to the producers when she auditioned for a role in a movie, saying she was "very confrontational" on the set, just because the two had a disagreement over the way they performed during the filming process.

“There was a plot line about my character who was in love with Tom Sadoski’s character.” Moon recalled, “The director wanted me to take on the development of this relationship alone. He kept asking me to say, ‘Can you watch him smile?’ I thought, ‘She’s busy with work.’ Or he said, ‘Can you stop and lean against him and act coquettishly and make love?’ ‘Can you kiss?’ I can only respond, ‘This is the middle of our work!’”

Later, Moon learned from his team members that the director had maliciously slandered her in front of a film company, saying that she was unable to cooperate.

"I had almost gotten the role in that movie, and just before the first shot, my agent called me and told me, 'You'll be selected soon, but there's a problem - a director they knew said you were always late during the Newsroom and it was very difficult to do.' I lived just seven minutes from the set and never came late. I knew who did it. He just wanted to slander me." She said firmly, "I told my agents about it and asked them to tell the directors truthfully. Still, I got that role. But I always remember that just because we had a disagreement about the role, he tried to ruin my chances of fighting for other opportunities."

Throughout his career, Olivia Moon has always spoken out bravely, exposing all kinds of injustice and oppression in the film and television industry. In 2017, she publicly accused director Brett Ratner of sexual harassment and revealed to the Los Angeles Times that in 2004, she masturbated in front of her in front of her in the trailer while visiting the crew of the movie After the Sunset.A year later, she stood up again to reveal that during the filming of the 2018 film Predators, director Shane Black arranged for her friend, Steven Wilder Striegel, to star in a small role opposite her. After the incident was exposed, Black publicly apologized.

Earlier this year, Moon also revealed that she had rejected a multi-million dollar hush fee from a production company because she was reluctant to sign a confidentiality agreement to cover up a "traumatic incident" that occurred on the set.
